SEKOFIA'S QUATER 1 HIGHLIGHTS

On March 14th and 15th, the 6th ABH Summit & Grand Finale was taking stage again in the Kigali Convention Center (KCC) in Kigali, Rwanda under the theme "A.I. – African Innovation, Insight and Impact"

Africa's Business Heroes (ABH) is the Jack Ma Foundation's flagship philanthropic program in Africa to support entrepreneurs. The prize competition aims to identify, showcase and support African entrepreneurs who are making a difference in their local communities, working to solve the most pressing problems, and building a more sustainable economy for the future. Every year, they select ten finalists to compete in the ABH Grand Finale.

The 6th ABH Summit & Grand Finale featured insightful and diverse entrepreneurship events, dynamic talks, an AI-powered experience, and exciting pitches.

Reflecting his impactful work in the health space and through a recommendation from the African Leadership University, our Co-Founder & COO, Nino Chibuzor Nwachukwu, was invited by the ABH team to contribute to the health segment of the summit.

About The ABH Grand Finale Summit

The BeChangeMaker Youth Festival was jointly created by WorldSkills International, HP LIFE and UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre to support and empower young changemakers. The virtual event marked the first gathering of all #BeChangeMaker programme beneficiaries and showcased social enterprises and initiatives led by young people, including members of the #BeChangeMaker Alumni Network.

The theme of the festival was "Igniting Change, Empowering Action," and it was aimed to equip participants with tools, networking opportunities and inspiration to amplify their social impact. The 2-day event on April 10th & 11th served as a catalyst for empowering youth to lead sustainable change in their communities and beyond.

On Day 2 of the festival, Ochong & Nino, co-founders of Sekofia, were invited as alumnis to host a masterclass session, while sharing the impactful work they are doing so far with Sekofia.

During the masterclass, Ochong and Nino delivered a topic titled “Build What Matters: How to Turn Real Problems into Real Products”. Drawing from their experience as winners of BeChangeMaker 2024, they introduced participants to a simple but powerful Builder’s Framework: Problem, Solution, Test, Impact.

They shared how Sekofia, a SaaS platform, emerged from identifying the severe inefficiencies in Nigeria’s health insurance system, where less than 5% of the population is covered and administrative processes cause long delays in patient care. Using industry research, community engagement, and mentorship, they framed their problem area and iterated on their solution—from an initial cross-border insurance idea to building a real-time digital platform connecting insurers, hospitals, and patients.

Throughout the session, participants were encouraged to reflect on real challenges in their communities, conceptualize low-cost solutions, and begin taking action without waiting for perfection. Ochong and Nino urged participants to "build what matters" and stay connected to continue learning and growing.

Nino’s talk titled “Africa’s Healthcare: Reality Check”, was centered around sharing 5 powerful facts of the reality of healthcare in Africa, and the solutions and innovations being developed by African entrepreneurs to solve the challenges in the African healthcare space.

His delivery brought energy and added depth to an important discussion, making it more engaging and impactful for all attendees of the Summit.
